August 30, 1925 ~ July 20, 2017 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Calvin E. Wilkinson, 91, of Tiffin, passed away Thursday afternoon, July 20, 2017 at his home.

He was born on August 30, 1925, in Bloomville to Edward Lee and Zaida (Coffman) Wilkinson.  He married Norma May (Houpt) Wilkinson on June 25, 1949 at Trinity United Church in McCutchenville. 

He is survived by his wife, Norma of Tiffin; daughters, Shirley Ann (Howard) Koehl of Tiffin and Janice Kay (Craig Decker) Brown of Charlotte, North Carolina; son, Dennis Edward (Debora) Wilkinson of Tiffin; five grandchildren, Karissa Lynn and Matthew Lynn (Courtney) Brown, Leslie Ann and Aaron Christopher (Meranda) Koehl and Jessica Alane (Joseph Miller) Wilkinson; four great grandchildren, Jacob Anthony Koehl, Ella Mae Brown, Alivia Noel Miller and Aiden Joseph Koehl; foreign exchange student, Leonie Carstensen; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Stephanie Lynn Brown; brothers, Leonard Lee, Paul A. and Luther Wilkinson; and sister, Lula Mae Brandt.

Calvin was a member of First English Lutheran Church, baptized, confirmed and was an altar boy for Dr. Wayne O. Kantner from fifth grade thru high school.  He transferred his membership to Family of Faith, Tiffin.  He graduated in 1944 from Tiffin Columbian High School, served in the United States Army during World War II and retired after 29 years as a parts expediter, vertical drill press and assembling punch holder from National Machinery on December 23, 1986.  Calvin was a member of the National Machinery Quarter Century Club, served on the Clinton Twp. zoning board, was a member of the Allen Eiry Senior Center and enjoyed being President of band boosters for Columbian High School in 1966 to 1967 and volunteering at Greenlawn Cemetery.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, cooking, gardening and traveling, especially on cruises to Alaska, Hawaii and the Caribbean Islands.   He was an Ohio State football fan and loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.

A graveside service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 24, 2017 at Greenlawn Cemetery with Pastor Philip Moerdyk officiating and military honors will be conducted by the United Veterans Council.  A Memorial Service will be at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Family of Faith, Allen Eiry Senior Center or to TLC Home Nursing.
