Charles "Chuck" E. Magers

Charles “Chuck” E. Magers, 90, of Tiffin, passed away Saturday afternoon, September 9, 2017 at St. Francis Home.

On May 29, 1927 in Tiffin, he was born to Fred and Doris (Dornan) Magers.

Survivors include a brother, David “Mike” (Barb) Magers of Tiffin; Sister Mary Jane Magers, RSM of The Pines in Fremont; Sister Stella “Irene” Magers, OSF of St. Francis Convent in Tiffin; sister in law, Donna Magers of Tiffin and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Pat, John and Albert; sisters, Marjorie A. Pennycuff, Betty Phillips and infant sisters, Vivian and Evelyn Magers.

Chuck attended Tiffin Calvert, began his 20-year career in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam and Korea, and was awarded the Purple Heart twice.  After his retirement from the Army, he was a caregiver for his parents for many years.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, walking, reading, collecting books and figurines from Occupied Japan.  Chuck cherished the time he spent with his family over the years.

His Funeral Service will be Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at 11:30 AM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Frank Murd and Sister Gemma Fenbert officiating.   Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with Military honors conducted by the United Veterans Council.

Friends may visit and share stories with the family on Tuesday from 10-11:30 AM prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Home, Community Hospice Care, or to a local Veteran’s organization.
