George R. Kuhn, 92, of Tiffin, passed away on Tuesday morning, November 28, 2017 at St. Francis Home.

He was born on September 17, 1925, in Tiffin, Ohio to Albert and Hubertine (Mueller) Kuhn.  On June 26, 1948, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, he married Virginia B. “Ginny” Buckley and she preceded him in death on May 1, 2010.

He is survived by his daughters, Bonnie  R. (Dave) Yandura of Tiffin and Jeanette M. Youngston of Columbia Station; son, George A. (Denise) Kuhn of Tiffin; seven grandchildren, David (Ginger) Yandura, Christine (Bryan) Zimmerman, Jacquelyn (Jason) Hausman, Mercedes Youngston , David Youngston, Krista Kuhn and Kayleen Kuhn; eight great grandchildren, Madison, Cole and Samuel Zimmerman; Alexandria, Nicholas and Meghan Hausman; and Tyler and Georgia Yandura; sister, Elizabeth Ann Kuhn of San Diego, CA; and many nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, David Youngston; brothers, John Kuhn, Albert “Pete” Kuhn and Fr. Thomas W. Kuhn; and sister, Kathleen Sexton.

George served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War and was honorably discharged.  He retired from the Tiffin Fire Department in 1985 after 34 years, and started Tiffin Fire Extinguisher Sales and Service and Tiffin Shop of Books with his wife, Ginny.  George was a member of the Tiffin Eagles #402, enjoyed working on the “toy project” for the Tiffin Fire Department, golfing, fishing and vacationing in Lewiston, Michigan every year.  George loved his dog, Rudy and spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, December 1, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Walters officiating.  A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the United Veterans Council.

Friends may visit with the family from 6-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424.

The family would like to thank the caring staff at St. Francis Home, specifically those of 2 West and the Chiara Unit for the care they provided to George the last four years.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Seneca County or the Tiffin Fire Department “Toy Project.”
