He was born on December 22, 1942 to William E. and Arlene M. (Gurney-Brinkman) Shertzer.  On January 15, 1966, Jim married Patricia Sue Millott in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Tiffin and she preceded him in death on October 25, 2008.

Survivors include his friend, Bea Stein of Tiffin; many cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends in both the Northern Ohio area and the Clearwater/St. Petersburg, Florida area.

Jim was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ned Brinkman; friend, Bill Stein; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; and his Beagle, Snuggles.

Jim was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church and attended St. Joseph Grade School and Calvert High School.  He was the former owner of Tiffin Lawn Equipment and several residential rental properties, was a graduate of Hondros Real Estate College in Columbus and was a realtor with Wayne Griffin Realty for many years in Tiffin.  He also graduated from Kansas City Auction School.  He enjoyed good movies, good music, family and his favorite hobby was traveling.  Jim and wife, Pat enjoyed many vacations throughout the United States and Canada in addition to several years of Florida living at their home in Clearwater, Florida.  Jim was an Honorably Discharged Veteran, serving in the United States Navy. 

Jim was a member of the Tiffin Lions Club, the Knights of Columbus, a life member of the Amvets Post 48, the American Legion Post 169, the National Association of Realtors, the Tiffin Moose Lodge 846, the Tiffin Historic Trust and other professional, social and service organizations in both Ohio and Florida.

Sincere thanks are expressed to the many friends, caregivers and professionals who helped with and remained loyal to both Jim and Pat over the years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating.  A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may visit with family from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the Service on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Tiffin Lions Club, St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Community Hospice Care or to the Humane Society of Seneca County.
