James Souder, 85, of Columbus and formerly of Tiffin, passed away Saturday morning, September 30, 2017 at his home.

He was born on December 14, 1931 in Fort Wayne, IN to Harold and Maxine (Fuller) Souder.  He married Irma Kinn April 28, 1951 in St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bascom.

Survivors include his wife, Irma of Columbus; daughters, Sheri (Rick) Smith of Westerville; Caryn (Terry) Folk of Bowling Green; Christie (Steven) Prue of Westerville; sister, Judy Cook of Michigan; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Larry Souder and a sister, Janet Souder.

Jim was a 1950 graduate of Hopewell Loudon High School, worked over 40 years at National Machinery, as Head of the Graphics and Art Department, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the National Machinery Quarter Century Club, loved to dance and motor home around the United States.  Jim and his wife Irma visited all 50 states and travelled to South America.  They moved to Columbus 12 years ago to be close to family.  After his grandchildren, photography was his love.  Jim was a life-long learner, building his first computer in his 60’s, always had a project and something to fix or improve.

A Rite of Christian Funeral will be Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at 12:00 Noon at SS Patrick and Andrew Church, Bascom with Rev. Timothy Kummerer officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday, October 2, 2017 from 4-8:00 P.M. at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. The National Machinery Quarter Century Club will meet in body at 7:00 PM.
