Leora Mae (Bowers) Scherger

Leora Mae Scherger, 87, of Tiffin, passed away on Saturday morning, September 23, 2017 at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center.

She was born on September 2, 1930, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Gerald and Glenna (Alsbaugh) Bowers.  On October 21, 1950, she married Norbert J. Scherger, Sr. and he preceded her in death in 2007.

She is survived by two sons, Norbert J. “Nub” (Gayle) Scherger, Jr. and Dennis P. (Carol) Scherger, both of Tiffin; four daughters, Sue (Mark) Baum of Tiffin, Darlene (Roger) Rucker of Powell, Christine (Richard) Welter of Tiffin and Tina (James) Mira of Tiffin; son-in-law, David Main of Tiffin; sister, Deborah (Donald) Weller of Tiffin; brother, Charles (Janet) Bowers of Alvada; sister-in-law, Ida Bowers of Tiffin; brother-in-law, Eugene Harrison of Bettsville; 21 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; and 7 great, great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Linda Main; sister, Rosemary Harrison; brother, Gerald Bowers; and great grandchildren, Ryan Scott and Gavin

Leora was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, was a homemaker and volunteered at Autumnwood Care Center.  She enjoyed needlework, Bingo, square dancing, camping, playing cards and was a sports fan.  Family meant everything to Leora, she loved going to her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating.  A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass.  Burial will be at Seneca Memory Garden.

Friends may visit with the family from 2-4:00 P.M. and 6-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center or to F.A.C.T.
