Margaret Ann “Peg” Distel, 88, of Tiffin, passed away on Tuesday evening, September 12, 2017 at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.

She was born on November 6, 1928, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Harry William and Margaret Esther (Smoot) Jumper. On December 9, 1950, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, she married Thomas L. Distel and he preceded her in death on December 21, 2010. 

Survivors include her three sons, Thomas Wayne (Mary Jo) Distel of Wichita Falls, TX, Anthony Francis (Susan) Distel and Theodore (Dianna) Distel, both of Tiffin; three daughters, Theresa (Donald) Nibblett of Lorton, VA, Virginia (John) Coffman of Springfield and Margaret Ann Distel of Tiffin; 16 grandchildren; Jeremy (Kirsten) Coffman, Janel (Jeff) Bumgardner, Ted Distel, Tina (Scott) Chessher, Brad (Lindsey) Distel, Tim (Amber) Distel, Andrea Distel, Katie (Matt) Izenson, Kim (Russell) Hall, Doug Distel, Kelley (David) Cantley, Jackie Distel, Becca (Matt) Hartman, Greg Davisson, Nicole Davisson & Parker Szablewski; and 11 great grandchildren, Aleigha Coffman, Brady and Carter Bumgardner, Hattie and Stone Chessher, Braden and Colton Distel, Bryson and Harper Distel, Kelsie Hall and Millie Hartman.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Timothy Allen Distel; brothers, Dale, Robert, Paul, Raymond and Russell Jumper; and sisters, Patricia LeJeune, Martha Wonder, Evelyn Dunn and Helen Mompher.

Peg graduated in 1946 from Tiffin Columbian High School and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.  She spent 24 years as an Air Force Officer’s wife and lived in Ohio, Massachusetts, Bermuda, California, Mississippi, Alaska and Florida.  Peg was also a member of United Commercial Travelers, Tiffin Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, enjoyed playing cards, her cat Mia, loved spending time with her family and was very alert until the very end.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, September 18, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating.  A Rosary will begin at 20 minutes prior to Mass.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 3-6:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bridge Hospice Care, Hurricane Relief Fund or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
