Ralph  J. “Jack” Magers, Jr., 79, of Tiffin, passed away Sunday morning, May 14, 2017 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.

He was born on October 12, 1937 in Tiffin, Ohio, to Ralph J., Sr. and Alice (Michaels) Magers.  On October 28, 1967,  he married Janice A. “Jan” Tiell.

Survivors include his wife, Jan of Tiffin; son, Chris (Laura) Magers of Fort Seneca; daughter, Jennifer L. Magers of Indianapolis, IN; brothers, Russell (Betsy) Magers of Attica and Michael (Juanita) Magers of Tiffin; sister, Ruth (Howard) Meisner of Tiffin; three grandchildren, Jordan, Ashlyn, and Adam Magers.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank and Leroy Magers; sisters, Nancy Owen, Mary Louise “Weaze” Philipps and Joanne Benner; and an infant granddaughter.

Jack graduated from Tiffin Columbian in 1956 and served in the United States Army from October 7, 1956 to April 6, 1957 and then in the United States Air Force from January 20, 1958 to May 11, 1962.  He drove truck for R.D.S. Mowery for over 20 years and later was self-employed.  Jack was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the New Riegel American Legion Post #354.  He was a quiet person and enjoyed watching NASCAR, gathering at the Philipps’ pond and could be found at every sporting event for his grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 10:30 am at St. Mary Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with Military honors conducted by the New Riegel American Legion.
