Ronald William “Ron” Schriner, 79, of Tiffin, last survivor of Albert and Clara (Daniel) Schriner, passed away at 12:42 A.M. on Saturday morning, July 8, 2017 at St. Francis Home.

His wife Mary (Reinbolt) Schriner, who he married September 20, 1958 survives as well as his four children, Bob (Arlene “Ollie”) Schriner of Findlay, Sue Schriner of Tiffin, Dan (Kim) Schriner of Maumee and Ken (Janice) Schriner of Ottawa; 14 grandchildren, seven boys, Andy of Berkeley, CA, Mike of Canal Winchester, Doug of Denver, Scott of Cincinnati, Derek and Jared of Maumee and Jake of Ottawa; and 7 girls, Jen of Tiffin and Beth of Denver, Rebecca, Sara and Jessi of Ottawa, Marcia of Tiffin and Danielle of Maumee; 3 great grandchildren, Kaylee, Sophie and Liam;  former Norwegian foreign exchange student, whom he thought of as a daughter, Hilde; sisters-in-law, Jackie Schriner of Huron, Lois Reinbolt and Catherine Pinkston of Tiffin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Herb Schriner and Walter Schriner; sister, Ruth Seasly and sister-in-law, Martha Schriner.

Ron attended Attica Local Schools for nine years and was a 1955 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School.  He retired as a banking officer from Commercial National Bank after 30 years and worked as a clerk at Tiffin Ace Hardware for ten years.  Ron and Gene Lucius owned E & R Construction until Gene’s death in 2002. He built his own home, a talented carpenter.  He was also employed by Visconsi and Association of Cleveland (Westgate Center) since 1965, recently retiring.  Also, he drove cars for Tiffin Reineke Ford, was past president of United Way and of Calvert Boosters during their two football state championships.  Ron was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church where he was a Communion Distributor, served on the funeral luncheon committee and was a past member of St. Mary Finance Committee.  He received the Tom Omlor Super Booster Award.  Ron loved to travel, especially the week long summer trips with family, traveled all 50 States, plus Norway, where he gave his Norwegian "daughter" away in marriage.  He looked forward to spending winters in Florida at the Chesser Paradise.  He enjoyed fishing and the many years at the lake.  Ron really liked sports, especially Bowling Green State University football through the years of 1981-1987.  He was very proud of Ottawa-Glandorf High School football coach and teams.  Euchre was his card game of choice and he was ready to play anytime.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Walters officiating.  A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
