Thomas E. Watson, 78, of Tiffin, passed away Friday afternoon, September 8, 2017 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.

He was born on April 16, 1939, in Scipio Twp., to Virgil O. and Leona (Miller) Watson.  On April 28, 1984, he married Suzanne  M. “Sue” Bridinger. 

Survivors include his wife, Sue of Tiffin; sons, Jeffery (Tracy) Watson of McCutchenville and Brett (Lorie) Watson of Bowling Green; stepdaughter, Tracy (Brian Slaymaker) Snyder of Tiffin; brothers, Bill (Carol) Watson of Bascom and Bob (Judy) Watson of Republic; sister, Barbara (Charles) Steinbaugh of Plymouth, MI; eight grandchildren, Brittny, Cassie, Greg (Kelli), Eric (Emily), Trevor (Maddie), Matt, Josh and Joe; and two great grandchildren, Cohen and Isley.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Steve Brickner; stepdaughter, Cathy Brickner; and sister, Mary Helfer.

Tom graduated in 1957 from Republic High School, served in the United States Army Reserves from 1957 to 1964 and retired from Genex (Noba) after 49 ½ years as the shipping manager and from working in the lab.  Tom was a driver and trainer, along with his dad and brothers, working with racehorses, harness horses, and also broke, and trained Race Colts and Fillies.  He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Tiffin Amvets Post 48, Seneca County Harness Horsemen Association and enjoyed playing cards, casino trips, gardening, making people laugh and he was very outgoing.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 2-4:00 P.M. and 6-8:00 P.M. at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424.

His service will be Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Marilyn Coney officiating.  Burial will be at a later date in St. Jacob’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Faith United Methodist Church or to Community Hospice Care.
