Wayne Rollie Gnepper, 89, of Tiffin and formerly of New Riegel, passed away on Tuesday evening, July 25, 2017 at Seneca House, Tiffin.

He was born on December 31, 1927, in Salem Twp. in Oak Harbor to Rollie and Elizabeth (Gahn) Gnepper.  On August 13, 1949, he married Rosella Margaret Kramer in St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Riegel.

He is survived by his two sons, Paul (Mary) Gnepper of Van Buren and William Gnepper of Belle Center; three daughters, Rose Wheatley of Tiffin, Darlene (Ken) Lafontaine of Lewis Center and Nancy (Dennis) Coleman of Westerville; brother-in-law, Louie Lucius of New Riegel; nine grandchildren, Michelle Helba, Ross Wheatley, Brad Gnepper, Adam Gnepper, Shanna Kara, Grant Lafontaine, Benjamin Coleman, Christopher Coleman and Sara Risner; 13 great-grandchildren, Avonlea Helba, Rowan Gnepper, Loren Gnepper, Kayla Gnepper, Jackson Gnepper, Taylor Gnepper, Ariana Kara, Bianca Kara, Chloe Kara, Piper Coleman, Charlie Coleman, Kevin Heyman and Karson Stombaugh.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosella; brother, Oliver Gnepper; sister, Leola  Damschroder; son-in-law, Mike Wheatley; and great-grandchildren, Baby Girl Coleman and Kelsi Gnepper.

Wayne graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 1945.  He went to work for the sugar beet plant in Fremont.  Later, worked at Floom and Fleck, Tiffin Paper, and Medal Gold Dairy in Tiffin.  He finished his career driving bus for New Riegel School and was a custodian in the Upper Sandusky Schools.

Wayne helped coach Little League and Pony League baseball in New Riegel.  He and Rosella spent many years attending basketball and baseball games at New Riegel and Lakota Schools.  More recently, Wayne was a devoted fan of Upper Sandusky High School basketball games as well.  Wayne loved to travel; so many vacations were spent visiting relatives in Kansas and Texas.  Wayne had a special cat, Shadow, who he adored.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:30 P.M. on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at All Saints Parish, New Riegel with Rev. Timothy Kummerer officiating.   Burial will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery.

Family and friends may visit with the family from 5-8:00 P.M. on Friday, July 28, 2017 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424 and from 11:30 A.M. until the time of the Mass at All Saints Parish on Saturday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the activity fund at Seneca House, All Saints Parish and New Riegel Schools.
