William David Fletcher, 83, Tiffin, died suddenly, but peacefully, at home in his sleep on May 17, 2017.

He was born on August 30, 1933 to Carl Curtis and Mary Electa (Proper) Fletcher on the farm in Alta, Ohio. On April 8, 1961, he married Jacqueline Anne Scheurer and she survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Roc Fletcher of Marion, John (Cynthia) Fletcher of Tiffin, and Daniel (Cassandra) Fletcher of Amherst; two grandchildren, Jaden and Anna Fletcher of Tiffin; siblings, Norma Bowers, Richard (JoAnn) Fletcher, Tom (Roberta) Fletcher, Margie West, Judy Smith, Susie (Gayle) Kanz; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Lance David Fletcher; daughter, Julia Merry Fletcher; and siblings, Gerri Logan, Jack Fletcher, and Robert Fletcher.

He graduated from Mansfield Madison High School in 1952.  The family moved to Tiffin in 1962, where he managed a financial office in downtown Tiffin.  He was one of the founding members of the Tiffin Historic Trust in 1976 and loved sports of all kinds and especially enjoyed his children and grandchildren’s events.  In 1980, he opened his own antique shop, specializing in restoring vintage furniture. In 1990, he took on renovating an 1835 Greek Revival home for the family.  His secret to success in life was the work ethic and persistence he learned while growing up on the farm.

His funeral service will be at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424 with Pastor Clayton J. Bailey officiating.  Burial will be at a later date in Fairmont Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 12:00 Noon until the time of the funeral on Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Tiffin Historic Trust or to Tiffin YMCA.

Condolences may be sent and the guestbook signed at www.hgmackfuneralhome.com.
