Alta May Leemaster, 90, of Fremont, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, July 10, 2018 at Fremont Memorial Hospital.
She was born on September 13, 1927, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Meade H. and Genevieve (Pankhurst) Miller. On December 24, 1950, she married Warren L. Leemaster and he preceded her in death on July 16, 2011.
Survivors include her son, Layne (Kay) Leemaster of Helena; daughter, Sherry (Ken) Curns of rural Tiffin; son-in-law, Tom Landrus of Atlanta, GA; brother, Francis (Lorna) Miller of Georgia; and three grandchildren, Coral (Heath) Brickner, Holly Leemaster and Matthew Leemaster.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and son, Lanny Leemaster.
Alta May graduated in 1945 from Bettsville High School and worked in the drapery department at Spieldenner’s in Fremont. She was a member of Hayes Memorial United Methodist Church where she was active in the Rachel Circle. Alta May and her husband, Warren were members of the Ohio Tool Collectors Association and the Midwest Tool Collectors Association and traveled to many shows. She enjoyed sewing, traveling, crocheting, canning and was famous for her apple pie. Alta May also enjoyed wintering in Georgia while visiting her son and brother and she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 16, 2018 at Hayes Memorial United Methodist Church in Fremont with Pastor Marc Quinter officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Union Cemetery in Old Fort.
Friends may visit with the family from 6-8:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424 and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Service on Monday at the Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hayes Memorial United Methodist Church, Bethesda Care Center Therapy Department or to the Old Fort Church.
