Ann Hutzel Obituary

Ann Hutzel, 81, of Tiffin, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at her home.

She was born on October 24, 1938, in Cleveland, Ohio, to William E. and Arva (Cowgill) Mishler.  On June 24, 1961, she married Donald J. Hutzel.

Survivors include her husband, Donald of Tiffin; sons, Donald J. (John) Hutzel, Jr. of Washington, D.C. , William J. (Colette) Hutzel of Lafayette, IN, David C. (Carol) Hutzel of Erie, PA and Peter T. (Ray) Hutzel of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Alice M. (Michael) Kompar of Dayton; sister, Martha Reiss of Hilton Head, SC; and 16 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, William E. Mishler; and sisters, Barbara Drain and Joan Reifman.

Ann attended Gesu and Beaumont Schools in Cleveland and graduated from St. Elizabeth College in New Jersey.  She was the first dietician at Autumnwood Care Center, Four County Director for WSOS, Dietary Director at Willard Mercy Hospital, Director of the WIC program in Seneca County and co-founded Community Hospice Care with Anita Gaydos.   Ann was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where she was a lector, distributor and member of Church Council and recently was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.  She was past president of the Allen Eiry Senior Center, was intelligent and a very adamant Catholic/Christian, never bashful and always ready to speak out when she perceived injustice or someone not living up to their expectations.

Her Funeral will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, December 9, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating.  A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass.  After the Mass, a Celebration of Life will be celebrated at Carmi’s.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvert Catholic Schools, 152 Madison Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883.
