Betty A. (Kinn) Lauer

Betty A. Lauer, 90, of Tiffin and formerly of New Riegel, passed away on Monday morning, January 29, 2018 in the Emergency Room at Mercy Health-Tiffin Hospital.

She was born on September 4, 1927, in Hancock County, to Joseph and Helen (Welly) Kinn.  On June 5, 1948, she married Richard “Tunny” Lauer and he preceded her in death on April 17, 1974.

Survivors include her two daughters, Peg (Mark) Hoerig of Tiffin and Sharon (Dave) Uitto of New Riegel;  sister, Luella Faber of New Riegel; three grandchildren, Matthew Hoerig of Seattle Washington, Dereck (Erika) Uitto of Findlay and Kyle Uitto of New Riegel; and one great granddaughter, Veda Uitto.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, David W. Lauer; brothers, Paul and Jim Kinn; sisters, Verona Wagner, Mae Reinhart and infant sister, Barbara Kinn.

Betty graduated from New Riegel High School in 1945 and was a bartender at New Riegel Café, Clark’s Bar and Lonsway’s Bar.  She was a member of All Saints Parish in New Riegel and a fifty-year member of the Catholic Knights of Ohio.  Betty said the Rosary and prayed daily and she enjoyed being at home, her many friends, talking on the phone and visiting with her family.  Betty loved her grandchildren and the “little one.”

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 A.M. on Friday, February 2, 2018 at All Saints Parish, New Riegel.  A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass.  Burial will follow in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to NBS Joint Fire District or to the Arcadia Baseball Team.
