Christopher Mark “Chris” Payne, 51, of Tiffin, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 27, 2019 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.
He was born on January 13, 1968, in Tiffin, Ohio to Jack H. and Susan (Zeis) Payne.
He is survived by his mother, Susan Payne of Tiffin; brother, John Lockwood (Melissa Crohen) Payne of Delaware; nephews, Jacob Lockwood Payne and Benjamin Crohen Payne; aunts and uncles, Lock and Janie Zeis of Port Clinton, Bob and Terrie Payne of Gypsum and Tom Payne of Key West, FL; many cousins; golfing buddies, Mark Welly, Adrian “Boomer” Roszman and Brian Bean; and good friend, Don Patterson and his son, Sam.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jack Payne; and grandparents, Frederick and Imogen Zeis and Orville and Irma (Yoder) Payne.
Chris graduated in 1986 from Tiffin Columbian High School and attended Tiffin University. He worked as a Bill of Material Administrator for 21 years at National Machinery, was a member of Old Trinity Episcopal Church, the Tiffin Elks #94 and the American Legion Post #169. Prior to working at National Machinery, Chris worked for ABS Services, Tiffin Ford and Pettibone. Chris enjoyed golfing.
His Funeral Service will be at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, May 31, 2019 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424 with The Rev. Aaron Gerlach officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 P.M. until the time of the Service on Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorial contributions may be made to Orville and Irma Yoder Payne Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Tiffin University, Old Trinity Episcopal Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
