David C. Otte

David C. Otte, 63, of Fostoria, passed away Saturday evening, October 26, 2019 at his home surrounded by family.

On February 12, 1956 in Toledo, OH, he was born to Carl E. and Barbara (Szymanski) Otte.  He married Linda A. Clouse on August 14, 1982 and she survives in Fostoria.

Survivors include his mother, Barbara Otte of Fostoria; daughter, Krissy (Nikhom) Phounsavath of Fostoria; sons, Devin (Stephanie Grooms) Otte of Fostoria; Kurt (Mandie Clymer) Otte of Tiffin; Josh (Emily Kern) Otte of Fostoria; brother, Darrin (Arlea) Otte of New York; sister, Denise Medevdov of Michigan and 17 favorite grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl and brother in law, Joseph Medevdov.

Dave was a member of Hopewell Church of God who enjoyed watching drag races, building models, target shooting and spending time outdoors.  Dave was a member of Carpenters and Millwright Union 248 for over 20 years in construction, retiring from Autolite in Fostoria after 25 years, most recently at Custom Machine in Bettsville and spent 20 years on the Bascom Volunteer Fire Dept. retiring in 2011.

Dave spent as much time as he could with his family, attending different events for the grandchildren, even becoming an ordained minister and performing the wedding ceremony for his oldest granddaughter.  He always wanted to divide himself by 17 so he could spend equal time with every grandchild.

His funeral will be Thursday, October 31, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Hopewell Church of God with Pastor Terry Steinhauer Officiating.  Burial will follow in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Jackson Township.

Friends may visit and share stories with the family on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 from 3-8 PM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hopewell Church of God, Heartland Hospice, F.A.C.T., Bascom Joint Fire District, or C.S. Motts Children’s Hospital, Pediatric Cardio.
