Donald F. “Don” Fox, 83, of Tiffin, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Mercy Health- Tiffin Hospital with his family by his side.

Don was born on August 9, 1934 to the late Fred and Gertrude (Magrum) Fox.  He graduated from Fremont St. Joseph in the class of 1954.  He married Joan M. Goshe of Melmore on October 11, 1958 and she preceded him in death in 1974.  Don and Joan adopted two daughters, Sharon and Donna.  Don had a third daughter, Bernadette, from a second marriage.  In 1988, he married Doris (Bardon) Brown of Upper Sandusky and they were married for nearly 24 years, before Doris passed away in 2012.

He is survived by his three daughters, Sharon (Jerry) Hoy of New Washington, Donna (Don) Siebenaller of Tiffin and Bernadette Kolver of Fremont; five granddaughters, Sarah Hoy of New Washington, Jessica Hoy of New Washington, Alicia (Tyson) McNutt of Tiffin, Samantha (Steve) Scherger of Tiffin and Hailey Overmyer of Bettsville; grandson, Brock Overmyer of Bettsville; six great grandchildren; brother, Harold Fox of Fostoria; and two sisters, Pauline Lowery and Beatrice (Ramon) Lowery, both of Fostoria.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Joan (Goshe) and Doris (Bardon); and brothers, Louie, Richard, Ralph and Herbert Fox.

Don worked for Tiffin businesses, Canteen Vending Company and Ballreich’s and later retired from Todco in Upper Sandusky.  He served in the United States Army as a cook during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was a member of the Tiffin VFW Post 2858, Tiffin Moose #846 and Tiffin Eagles #402.  He and his wife, Doris enjoyed their visits to the clubs, especially during his retirement years.  Don loved to fish and to play piano and was self-taught and played “by ear”.  He had a special love for gardening and kept a large, beautiful garden for many years.  He took special joy in delivering clean/washed vegetables to friends and family.  Don loved his children and grandchildren and lit up when the great-grandchildren came to visit.  Although dementia stole much from his last years in life, he wore a smile on his face for those around him.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, August 25, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Walters officiating.  A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may visit with family from 5-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424.

The daughters of Don Fox would like to thank the nurses and staff at St. Francis Home for the kindness and cheerful care they gave Don in his last couple of years of life.
