Earl L. “Louie” Bowman, 87, of Tiffin, passed away peacefully, Monday, October 14, 2019, at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care.
He was born on July 9, 1932, in Tiffin, to Earl and Marjorie (Schultis) Bowman.
Survivors include his sons, Michael (Jean) Bowman of Fremont and Larry (Ann) Bowman of Green Springs; daughters, Barb (Matt) Craun of FL.; Connie (Scott Keckler) Bowman of Fremont; Margie Thomas of Fremont; Jenny (Steve Abbott) Childress of Fostoria; and Kathy Meyers of Fostoria; special friend, Diane Hohman of Tiffin; sister, Dorothy Scheifer of Chatfield, OH.; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Shirley and son-in-law, Todd Thomas.
Louie started life, graduating from Scipio-Republic High School in 1949 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1953-1957 before being honorably discharged. He worked for Huth Construction briefly and after meeting Bob Klepper, started with Kleppers of Tiffin holding various positions until he retired in 1990 as General Manager after 32 years. After retirement, Louie moved to Florida for the next 15 years with his close friend Diane. They enjoyed golfing, traveling, cruising and making many friends along the way. He was a member of American Legion Post 169, AmVets Post 48, DAV, Tiffin Eagles #402 and Tiffin Moose Lodge 846.
His service will be 7:00 P.M. on Monday, October 21, 2019 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. Burial will be at a later date at Farewell Retreat Cemetery with Military Honors by the United Veterans Council of Seneca County.
Friends may visit and share stories on Monday, October 21, 2019 from 5-7 PM at the funeral home.
