Florence M. “Flo” Triendl, 96, of Tiffin, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2019 at St. Francis Home.
She was born on April 27, 1923, in Toledo, Ohio, to Joseph B. and Helen (Willman) Triendl.
Survivors include a niece, Susan Sipes in Reisterstown, MD.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Jean Hurley.
Florence graduated from Toledo Central Catholic High School in 1941 and from Roosevelt University in Chicago in 1972. During the intervening years, she was employed by the U.S. Civil Service in Vienna, Austria and by the Young Christian Workers in Brussels, Belgium. She was invited to South Africa from 1957 to 1969, where she helped organize groups focused on leadership training and self help projects. She moved to Florida to help care for her aging parents in 1979 and returned to Ohio, residing in Tiffin in 2006. While living in Florida, Flo worked at the Children’s Home in Tampa in the 1970’s and 1980’s. She enjoyed spending time with her family, tutoring and learning from children at Noble School, her Tai Chi group at Allen Eiry, the book discussion group at the Seneca County Public Library and the company of her friends.
A Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, September 23, 2019 at St. Francis Chapel with Rev. Frank Murd officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stephens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
