Janis A. Bennington, 86, of Tiffin and Sandusky, passed away Saturday morning, December 15, 2018 at Parkvue Health Care in Sandusky.
She was born on December 30, 1931 in Sandusky to Howard and Arline (Holmes) Werner. She married Jack Bennington on July 24, 1952 in Sandusky and he preceded her in death in 1997.
Survivors include a son, Steven L. (Tammy Loveridge) Bennington of Findlay; daughter, Linda S. (Terry Hahn) Bennington of Sandusky; brother, Robert (Doris) Werner of Lorain; two grandchildren, Kara and Brad, two step grandchildren, Cathy and Dustin and 10 great grandchildren.
Janis was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Barbara Knotts.
Janis attended Hopewell Church of God while living in Tiffin and Calvary Baptist Church while living in Sandusky and graduated from Sandusky High School in 1950. Janis lived in Germany while her husband was stationed there and moved to Tiffin in 1964. She worked at the jewelry counter at Kmart for many years, later retiring. Janis enjoyed reading, crocheting, baking pies and watching the Hallmark channel. In 2014, she moved back to Sandusky to be closer to her family.
Her funeral service will be Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Hopewell Church of God with Pastor Terry Steinhauer officiating. Burial will follow in Seneca Memory Garden.
Friends may visit with the family the family on Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hopewell Church of God or to a Hospice organization of choice.
