John E. “Jack” Reuter, 88, of Tiffin, passed away on Friday morning, November 9, 2018 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.
He was born on December 6, 1929, in Tiffin to Gilbert J. and Helen M. (Schmidutz) Reuter. He married Marilyn Simonis and they later divorced. On June 23, 1986, he married Sandra “Sandy” Dicken.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy Reuter of Tiffin; sons, Stephen Reuter, Mark (Shelley) Reuter, James (Gina) Reuter and Phillip (Jill) Reuter, all of Tiffin; daughters, Sandra (Tom) Toepper, Debra (Paul) Smyser, Carol (Howard) Magers all of Tiffin; Linda (Mark) Cole of Upper Sandusky, Joyce Harper and Lisa (Darren) Wilson, both of Tiffin; sister, Ruth “Midge” (Tom) Eldridge of Phoenix, AZ; 23 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Vincent Reuter; daughter, Evelyn Reuter; an infant grandson, Brendon Wilson; and grandson, Dakota Magers.
Jack was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, graduated from Tiffin Calvert in 1948 and served in the United States Army from February 16, 1951 to February 16, 1953 and later in the Reserves. He worked at the Tiffin Glass House and was a Postal Clerk in Tiffin for 32 years, retiring in 1990. Jack enjoyed camping, biking, fishing, gardening, bowling, being outdoors, watching The Ohio State Buckeyes, football and playing cards. He was a member of the Tiffin Moose since 1957 where he volunteered and held many offices over the years.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Anthony Coci officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with military honors by the United Veterans Council.
