Joseph Kimmet Obituary

Joseph A. “Joe” Kimmet, 66, of Reynoldsburg, and formerly of Tiffin, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at his home.

He was born on July 8, 1953, in Toledo, Ohio, to Robert A. and Theresa (Harmon) Kimmet.  On July 20, 1974, he married Shirley Runion.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Kimmet of Reynoldsburg; son, Joseph (Cora) Kimmet of Tiffin; daughters, Kimberly (Uche) Mba in Reynoldsburg and Kelly Jo Kimmet of Tiffin; brothers, George H. (Mary) Kimmet and Robert E. Kimmet, both of Tiffin; sisters, Helen Hasn and Donna Marie Frey, both of Tiffin; and four grandchildren, Raini Biddle, Eve Fitch, McKella Kimmet and Amelia Kimmet.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Joe graduated in 1972 from Tiffin Columbian High School, worked at National Machinery for 32 years in the shipping department and was a member of their Quarter Century Club.  Joe and Shirley moved to the Columbus area three years ago to be close to family.  He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, was a handyman, enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, camping every weekend, teaching swimming, CPR and life guarding at the YMCA and picking on Shirley.  Joe had a stroke sixteen years ago, but still loved to fish and joke around, referring to his black cat as orange.  He was quite the character and jokester, was fun to be around and loved spending time with his children and wife, who he called his dreamboat.

His Funeral Service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, December 9, 2019 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Matthew Mammen officiating.  A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass.  Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens at a later date.
