Rita E. (Burkart) Bursa

Rita E. Bursa, 94, of Tiffin, passed away Saturday morning, June 1, 2019 at her home.

She was born on May 22, 1925 in Tiffin, to Edward B. and Emma S. (Baker) Burkart.  On November 28, 1946 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, she married Dominic J. Bursa and he preceded her in death.

Survivors include four children, Carol (Bob) Parker of Bucyrus; Steve (Nancy) Bursa of Fort Myers, FL; David (Ginny) Bursa of Tiffin and Jill (Rich) Oblizajek of Sylvania; son-in-law, Scott Gregory of Huntsville, AL; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and two on the way; two sisters, Elizabeth Fabrizio of MA and Judy (John) Hill of Marblehead; sisters-in-law, Shirley Burkart of Tiffin and Pearl Burkart of CA; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dominic; daughter, Ann Gregory; eight siblings, Mary Louise Boehner, Ed Burkart, James Burkart, George Burkart, Charles Burkart, Alfred Burkart, Susan Fuller and Jerry Burkart; and a granddaughter, Madeline Oblizajek.

Rita was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a 1943 graduate of Tiffin Calvert.  She worked at General Electric for over 16 years, retiring in 1974 and continued volunteering at the Ritz Theatre making popcorn and at the Mercy Hospital Gift Shop.  Rita was active and held offices in the GEWOTS, a member of the Tiffin Right to life attending many marches in Washington D.C. and a member of the Society of Precious Blood, Mother’s Club and card clubs. Rita enjoyed ceramics, collecting Grandma Burkart’s China, cake decorating and spending time with her family.    

Her Mass will be Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, June 6, 2019 from 9:30-10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church
