Ruth Zoeller Obituary

Ruth A. Zoeller, 66, of Tiffin, passed away on Friday morning, October 5, 2018 at Stein Hospice, Sandusky, surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer.

She was born on April 21, 1952, in Tiffin, to the late Louis M. and Thelma “Terry” (Jackson) Gaietto.  Ruth married the love of her life, Richard “Butch” Zoeller on December 11, 1971.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Richard of Tiffin; Randall A.  (Kelly) Zoeller of Tiffin; daughter, Rachel A. (Adrian) Palomo of Wickliffe, OH; two grandchildren, Maximus and Cordelia Palomo;  brother, Donald P. (Sue) Gaietto; sisters, Suzanne M. (Ralph) McTaggart and Julie A. (Doug) Iannantuono; sister in law, Linda Gaietto and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Louis Gaietto, Jr.; and sister, Rose A. Lewis.

Ruth attended St. Mary Catholic School, Tiffin Calvert High School and graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School in 1970.  Ruth later attended Tiffin University and achieved an Associate’s Degree in Business Management in 2000.  She worked in banking for 33 years, beginning with Diamond Savings and Loan, Bank One, and retiring from Old Fort Bank in 2017 as their Internal Auditor and Security Officer.  Ruth was president of the R.B. Hayes Audubon Society and was a life member of the Green Creek Wildlife Society.  She monitored an Eastern Blue Bird Trail for several years, helping the Blue Bird establish nesting grounds.  She maintained her own Blue Bird boxes until her death.  Ruth grew a large garden, freezing, canning and making her own pizza and spaghetti sauces, drying herbs for winter months.  Annually, Ruth hosted The Pumpkin Patch for her young grandchildren, nieces, nephews and neighborhood kids.  The Hayrides were always eventful for the older kids, her son Randy chasing, and spooking the wagon full of kids and parents.

Ruth enjoyed birding, gardening, landscaping, camping and spending precious time with her grandchildren, family and friends.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, October 12, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Anthony Coci officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
