Thomas L. “Tom” Schumm, 86, of Tiffin, passed away on Monday evening, May 21, 2018 at St. Francis Home.
He was born on December 15, 1931, in Tiffin, Ohio, to George and Elizabeth (Dowdell) Schumm. On February 9, 1963, he married Anna Marie Kimmet.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Marie of Tiffin; son, Anthony G. (Sherri) Schumm of Radnor; daughters, Mary (Donald) Lucius of Fostoria and Margaret (Philip) Steyer of Alvada; sister, Mary Scherger of Tiffin; and six grandchildren, Nicholas (Meagan) Steyer, Andrew Schumm, Brianna Lucius, Daniel Steyer, Aaron Lucius and PFC Matthew Schumm, USMC.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Harold Schumm, Robert Schumm, James Schumm and Donald Schumm; and sister, Elizabeth Reamer.
Tom graduated from Tiffin Calvert High School in 1949 and graduated with an associates degree in Business from Tiffin University. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and retired in 1994, after working 39 years at Whirlpool in Clyde. He also worked at J.J. Fleck as a shipping clerk. Tom served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. He was a member of the American Legion Post #354, New Riegel. He also enjoyed playing cards, gardening, baking, swimming at the YMCA, camping, visiting Ireland and spending time with his family.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 Noon on Monday, May 28, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the American Legion Post #354, New Riegel.
