Velvia Haugh, 91, of Tiffin, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at her home.
She was born on June 9, 1927, in Pineville, Kentucky to Mack T. and Nancy Ann (Mason) Gibson. She met her husband, James W. Haugh on a train in Fostoria while he was in the military and on March 15, 1946, they were married.
Survivors include her daughter, Sheila (Ron) Miller of Tiffin; four grandchildren, Tracey Lynn Hossler, Amy Nicole Bustillos, Ernie Ricker and Stephanie Ricker; 10 great grandchildren; and 5 great, great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James W. Haugh; daughter, Priscilla “Chris” Ricker; brother, O.D. Gibson; sisters, Dolly Edna Yearly, Doxie Parton, Lideth Hobbs, Adalee Lomeyer and Georgie Fox; and granddaughter, Angel Marie Miller.
Velvia worked at GEM Mfg. for 25 years and then at Webster for 15 years; retiring in 1992. She was a member and very active at Hopewell Church of God where she was involved in Bible Study Group. She was a also a member of Tiffin Eagles Auxiliary #402, serving as past president, Tiffin Moose #846, Amvets Post #48, Crystal Ball Grandmothers Club, serving as vice president and was a 25 year member of WIBC (Women’s International Bowling Congress). Velvia was always active, bowling three times a week and enjoyed taking care of her home and her family.
Her Funeral Service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Hopewell Church of God with Pastor Terry Steinhauer officiating. Burial will follow in Sandridge Cemetery, Bascom.
Friends may visit the family from 4-8:00 P.M. on Monday, May 20, 2019 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424 and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Service on Tuesday at the Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hopewell Church of God or to Interim HealthCare Hospice.
