Walter C. Beat, 89, of Tiffin, passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at St. Francis Home.
He was born on January 8, 1929, in Attica, Ohio, to Michael and Amelia (Hay) Beat. On October 9, 1951, he married Regina Hartzell.
Survivors include his three sons, Tom (Helene “Missy) Beat of Williamson, GA Mike (Anne) Beat of Wellington, Ohio and Ron Beat of Grove Port, Ohio; two daughters, Elaine (Jim) Smith of New Riegel and Jan (Tom) Cramer of Battle Creek, MI; sister-in-law, Arlene Symons of Sandusky, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Regina; and brothers, Herb Beat, Clarence Beat and Harold Beat; and sister, Cathrine Krause.
Walter graduated from Attica High School, worked at Pettibone and owned Beat Painting for over 20 years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where he was a Deacon, volunteered and was very involved. He also served as a Deacon for Tiffin Developmental Center for 30 years and worked as an Assistant Chaplain at St. Francis Home. Walter was also a member of the Knights of Columbus #608 and was always willing to help others.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church with his grandson, Rev. Jeffery Smith officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
