Albert Bietz, 88, of Tiffin, passed away on Thursday evening, January 23, 2014 at St. Francis Home in Tiffin.

He was born on November 25, 1925, in Kloestitz, Bessarabia to Gottlieb and Emilie (Schlecht) Bietz. On September 26, 1948 he married Erna Steinwand in Pohlde, Germany. They immigrated with their family to Tiffin, OH in February of 1956.

Survivors include two sons, Hugo (Linda) Bietz of Ft. Wayne, IN and Harry (Moira) Bietz of Hemet, CA; 3 daughters, Trudy (Mehdi) Razavi of Tiffin, Bruni Bietz of Columbus and Judy (Tom) Smith of Tiffin; 3 sisters-in-law, Alma Bietz of Calgary, Canada, Alma Steinwand of Herzberg, Germany and Ida (Adolf) Esslinger of Pohlde, Germany; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Erna; brothers, Daniel and Fred; and sister, Alma.

Albert was a brick mason and retired from Hagerty Construction Company. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed playing cards, chess and gardening. Albert was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church where he served as an usher.

His funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, January 31, 2014 at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Ken Gillikin and Ramin Razavi con-officiating. Burial will follow in Seneca Memory Gardens.
