Albert L. Diringer, 88, of Tiffin, passed away Thursday morning, November 29, 2012 at St. Francis Home.
He was born on August 4, 1924, in Tiffin, Ohio to Albert H. and Elva (Rosenberger) Diringer.
Preceding him in death were his parents and sister, Carol Diringer.
Albert graduated from Tiffin Calvert High School, the University of Dayton with an Engineering Degree and from Bowling Green State University with a Masters degree in education. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a member of the choir. He served in the United States Army in the 4025th Signal Corp. during World War II. After returning from the War, he started teaching Math at Calvert High School and was known as "Mister D" to his students. Albert taught at Calvert High School for over 53 years; teaching over three generations. Albert was not planning on teaching but in 1950, the principal at Calvert, Rev. George Jaeger asked him to help teach a math course for a teacher that was ill. The teacher never returned and from that time on he continued to teach. On September 10, 1995, he was awarded the Hall of Fame distinction for his dedication to the students and Calvert High School.
He also served as the past president of the Serra Club, St. Joseph Holy Name Society and to both Tiffin Deanery and Toledo Diocesan Council of Men and was the president of Tiffin Kiwanis Club. Albert enjoyed going to the Tiffin YMCA and traveling.
The family would like to thank the St. Francis Home 3 East Nursing Staff, Stein Hospice continuous care team and Sr. Eileen Bechtel for being by his side in his final days.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, December 3, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to the Mass.
Friends may visit with the family from 12:30-1:30 P.M. on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at the St. Francis Home Chapel and from 4-7:00 P.M. at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Wake Service will begin at 7:00 P.M.
At request of the family, in lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to Stein Hospice or St. Joseph Catholic Church.
