Al "Butch" Trott, 95, of Republic, passed away Sunday afternoon, October 27, 2013 at Ruffing Family Care Center, Bloomville.

Butch was born July 13, 1918 in Seneca County, OH to Charles and Hazel (Homlar) Trott. He married Donna Snavely on January 12, 1947 and she survives.

Other survivors include a son, Ron (Chris) Trott of Republic; daughter, Eileen (Arthur) Ostrander of Hauchuca, AZ; 2 grandchildren, Angie (Matt) Reiter, Ronnie (Nicole) Trott; 3 great grandchildren, Caden Trott, Bryce and Karah Reiter 2 sisters, Joyce George and Doris Meyer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant granddaughter, Melanie Trott in 1978; 3 sisters, Ruth Steirhoff, Rena Humburg, Taunt Peleman.

Butch served in the U.S. Army as a mechanic during WWII from June 16, 1942 until he was honorably discharged on November 2, 1945. He was a 68 year member of the Republic American Legion and owned Al's Mower Shop in Republic for over 36 years retiring in 2001. He loved his work and enjoyed all of his customers over the years. Butch's dedication allowed him to work until he was 82 years old. He will be greatly missed, but remembered by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as the best family man.

Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Block Cemetery, Republic, OH with Pastor Darla Metz officiating. Military honors conducted by the United Veterans Council.

There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, Butch would appreciate donations made to Bliss Memorial Public Library, Bloomville, OH where his grandchildren spend so much time or a local American Legion Post of your choice.
