Albert J. Yandura, 86, of Tiffin, died Monday morning, October 12, 2009 at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
On November 10, 1922 in Chicago, IL, he was born to Norbert and Apolonia (Druska) Yandura. He married Rosemary Swing on November 27, 1943.
Survivors include sons, Dave (Bonnie) Yandura and Tim (Deb) Yandura both of Tiffin; sister, Appie Vargo of Tiffin; 7 grandchildren, Beth, Cheryl, Michelle, Dave Jr., Chris, Jackie and Jessica, and 16 great grandchildren and his cat, Barney.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Rosemary in 1999, infant son Albert Jr., daughter, Suellen Babione, brother, Tony Yandura, sister, Eleanor Kasza, a great granddaughter and a great grandson.
Mr. Yandura was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, former member of American Legion Post #169, VFW Post #2858, and Life member of FOE #402. He started his career in 1940 at Webster Manufacturing and served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1942-1946 and later retired from Webster Manufacturing in 1983 in the production office. He loved to watch and play golf, traveling many times to Florida with his wife for a few rounds. Al enjoyed his hometown teams, the Chicago Bears and White Sox.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 12:30 PM at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to mass. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery with military honors conducted by the United Veterans Council.
Friends may visit with the family at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home, 236 S. Washington St, Tiffin 419-447-2424 from 10-12 Noon on Thursday.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, Seneca County Humane Society or to a charity of the donor's choice.
