Obituary

Alice Emily Keester, 94, of Tiffin, died, March 16, 2008, at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center. December 30, 1913, she was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Arthur F. and Esther C. (Mohr) Dole. June 29, 1940, she married George B. Keester in Chestertown, Maryland.

Survivors include two sons, George W. (Jenny) Keester of Florida, and Jon A. Keester of Montana, two daughters, Elizabeth (Harry) Walton of Delaware and Anne (W. Mitchell) Bartels of Ohio, and two grandchildren.

Preceding her in death along with her parents and husband of 52 years, George, on September 26, 1992, is a brother, Charles E. Dole.

Alice was a member of First Presbyterian Church, received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington College, Maryland, at age 17 and her Master's Degree from Maryland Institute College of Art, where she met her husband. In 1968, Alice moved to Tiffin from West Virginia to be the art teacher at West Jr. High School until retirement, continuing to substitute at local schools. She enjoyed traveling the world, reading, painting, crafts and her cats. She collected dolls and was a member of the Doll Club in Tiffin.

There is no visitation and burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Annapolis, Maryland.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Seneca County Humane Society.
