Alton Paul "Ike" Lonsway, 97, of Tiffin, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at St. Francis Home.

He was born on April 28, 1919, in Tiffin to Eugene and Gertrude (Uhlman) Lonsway. On May 18, 1946, he married Frances L. Leiter and she preceded him in death on January 16, 2009.

Survivors include his sons, Mike (Jean) Lonsway of Marblehead and Tom (Janet) Lonsway of Tiffin; daughter, Mary (Robert) Weichel of Huron; 14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 2 great, great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Walter, Charles and Richard Lonsway and two infant brothers.

Ike graduated in 1937 from Tiffin Calvert High School. He served in the United States Army during World War II from February 15, 1943 to March 26, 1946, serving in Germany as a Private First Classman with the Battle Green 69th Doughboys during the Battle of the Bulge. He retired as a machine operator from General Electric in 1981 after 35 years of service. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the General Electric Quarter Century Club and was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus #608. Ike was a devoted fan of Calvert and Notre Dame football, enjoyed traveling, and loved spending time with all of his family.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 A.M. on Friday, February 3, 2017 at St. Francis Chapel with Rev. Frank Murd officiating.

Friends may visit with the family from 10:30 A.M. until the time of the service on Friday at St. Francis Chapel.
