Obituary

Alvin J. Kiesel Jr., 82, of rural Tiffin, passed away Saturday morning, October 26, 2013 in the Emergency Room at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.

He was born February 18, 1931 in Clinton Twp. to Alvin John Sr. and Lillie (Williams) Kiesel. He married Jane "Pat" Adams on December 25, 1955 she survives.

Also surviving include 1 son, Dave (Erin Clark) Kiesel of Tiffin; 2 daughters, Deanna Kiesel of Findlay, Barbara (Mark) Roberts of Tiffin; 8 grandchildren, Bernie and Caitlin Somers, Christine and Emily Roberts, Amanda (Sam Burnside) Kiesel Melissa Kiesel, Skylar Tucker, Dylan Clark; 2 great grandchildren, Colten James and Emma Burnside; 3 sisters Adah (Virgil) Fausnaugh of Asheville, OH; Irene (Dale) Johnson and Edna Moyer both of Tiffin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Viola Sarkan and Agnes Lange.

Alvin was a member of Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church where he was a former trustee. He farmed his entire life on the family farm where he was born. Alvin was the founding member of Ohio No-Till Council and was inducted into the Seneca County Agriculture Hall of Fame in 2012. He was also on the Seneca County Soil and Water Conservation Board of Supervisors for 15 years, where he truly believed in preserving the soil for future generations. He was a member of the Brown Swiss Cattle Association, Union Grange, and National Grange for 65 years and the Seneca County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed farming, dairy farming, and his trip to Alaska for his 50th wedding anniversary.

His Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424 with Rev. David Culp officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 P.M. Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church, American Heart Association or Miller Conservation Fund.
