Amabilis "Dee" Huss, 90, of Tiffin, passed away Friday afternoon, October 5, 2012 at St. Francis Home.
She was born on May 16, 1922, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Antonio and Vincenza (Pelligrini) DeMonte. She married Paul V. Huss on February 2, 1946, in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Tiffin.
Survivors include her husband, Paul; 3 sons, Paul V. (Paula) Huss, Jr., of Tiffin, Charles P. (Linda) Huss of Dunbar, WV and James R. (Michelle) Huss of Palm Harbor, FL; 3 daughters, Judith K. (Dean) Walliser of Lancaster, Susan E. (John) Wampler of Union and Mary Ann Rumschlag, of Clearwater, FL; sister-in-law, Marjorie DeMonte; 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers, Primo, Louis and Alvin DeMonte.
Mrs. Huss attended St. Mary's grade school and graduated from Tiffin Calvert High School in 1940. She attended Lee Sales College part time and graduated from Mercy School of Nursing in Toledo Ohio in 1943. She returned to Tiffin and worked at Mercy Hospital in obstetrics, surgery, private and general duty from 1943 to 1968. She then worked at the State Hospital (Tiffin Developmental Center) from 1971 to 1982 and also worked at the migrant health clinic in Tiffin for 2 years. She was an active member of the Mercy Alumni in Toledo. Mrs. Huss was also an active member of St. Mary's Church; women's rosary, choir, the Altar Rosary Society and Daughters of Isabella. She was also a member of St. Francis and Mercy Hospital Auxiliary.
She served on the Seneca County Health Board Department and served as a R.N. hostess in the surgical waiting room. She was always ready to help others and enjoyed reading, listening to classical music, bowling, golfing and playing pinnacle and Euchre.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass.
Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 P.M. on Friday, October 12, 2012 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Christian Wake service will begin at 4:30 P.M.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or St. Francis Home in Tiffin.
