Obituary

Ambrose C. 'Brownie' Wise, 76, of Tiffin, died Thursday evening, April 22, 2010, at The Cleveland Clinic.

On May 9, 1933 in Tiffin, he was born to Henry and Loretta (Roth) Wise. He married Barbara Bouillon on June 22, 1957 in St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Riegel.

Survivors include his wife; Barbara of 52 years, 4 sons, Gene (Kaytee Dull) Wise, Richard "Toot" (Karen) Wise, Dave Wise, Ron (Kaye Wise) Wise all of Tiffin; 2 daughters, Laura (Larry) Seifert of Perrysburg; Jan (Dave) Apicella of Tiffin; a brother, James (Mary) Wise of McCutchenville; sisters, Sister Marie Catherine Wise, RSM of Fremont; Imelda (James) Clouse of New Riegel; Alma Wurm of Bloomville; 11 grandchildren, Jena (Ryan) Stearns, Jocelyn Lehman, Jessica Coleman, Eric Wise, Rachael Wise, Corin Wise, Adam Wise, Angela Seifert, Mitchell Seifert, Brandon Seifert, Nicholette Wise; and 2 great grandchildren, Avalynn and Daine Stearns.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bernard, Louis, and Luke Wise; sisters, Adeline Heitz, Margaret Kimmet, and Kathleen and Henrietta Wise.

Brownie was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #402. He worked in maintenance for Pettibone and Tiffin Enterprise. He was an auto mechanic for Tiffin Developmental Center, retiring in 2002 after 12 years. Always working two jobs and never sitting still, he owned Brownie's Maintenance Service for 20 years. He based his life on hard work and family values, teaching his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed wine making, hunting, fishing, and tending to his fruit trees and will be remembered for cooking the ham at family dinners.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by the United Veteran's Council.

Friends may visit with the family 2-8 PM, Monday, April 26, 2010, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or to The Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
