Obituary

Anna Mae Benner, 98, passed away June 9, 2025 at her home.

She was born on July 23, 1926 to Peter and Theresa (Doyan) Miller in a small farm house near State Route 4 in Huron County Ohio.

She married William J. Benner on November 8, 1947 at St. Joseph's Church in Tiffin, Ohio. He proceeded her in death on October 1, 1989.

She is survived by her children, Mary Schreiner of New Riegel, George (Susan Smith) Benner of Columbia City, Indiana, Martha (James) Sage of Green Valley, Arizona, James (Judy Brown) Benner of Catawba Island, David (Diane) Benner of Findlay, Phillip (Peggy) Benner and Jennifer (Robert) Goshe of Tiffin;  and sister, Coletta Mack of New Riegel.  She loved her 29 grandchildren and 59 great grandchildren, with another great grandchild on the way.

She is proceeded in death by her beloved husband, William Benner; parents, Peter and Theresa (Doyan) Miller; infant daughter, Ruth Ann Benner; sister, Agnes Young; brothers, Alphonse Miller, Phillip Miller, Bernard Miller and Herman Miller; and a son-in-law, Arthur Schreiner.

Anna Mae graduated from the New Riegel High School class of 1945.  She was the owner of The Petite Shop Ceramics for 50 years, where she taught the art of ceramics and oil painting. She was a beautiful artist and retired at the age of 88. She also loved traveling with her husband, and later with her friends Jane and Paul Depinet. Anna Mae always loved spending time with her family.

Her Funeral Mass will be at 12:00 Noon on Friday, June 13, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Anthony Coci officiating.  A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to Mass.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 9:30-11:30 A.M. on Friday at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424.

Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
