Obituary

Anna M. Schumm, 88, of Tiffin, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.

She was born on May 27, 1934, in New Riegel, Ohio, to Aloys M. and Bertha M. (Wrasman) Kimmet.  On February 9, 1963, she married Thomas L. Schumm and he preceded her in death on May 21, 2018. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Mary Lucius.

Survivors include her son, Tony (Sherri) Schumm of Radnor; daughter, Margaret (Philip) Steyer of Tiffin; son-in-law, Don Lucius, of Tiffin; brother, Herman (Nancy) Kimmet of New Riegel; sister, Clara Welly of New Riegel; six grandchildren, Nick (Meagan) Steyer, Andrew Schumm, Brianna Lucius, Daniel Steyer, Aaron (Lex) Lucius, Matt Schumm; and one great grandson, Landon Steyer.

Anna was a 1953 graduate of New Riegel High School. After graduation, she cared for many families welcoming newborns in the New Riegel & Tiffin area. Anna also joined her husband as a seasonal worker at the J.J. Fleck company where they both helped produce Easter egg dye kits for many years.  She was a devoted member of Tiffin St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was active volunteering and helping out at the festival. While residing at St. Francis, Anna was a regular attendee at All Saints Parish via LiveStream. Anna enjoyed playing cards, needlepoint, following Major League Baseball, especially the Detroit Tigers and she was an OSU fan.  Anna was well loved and had many friends. She enjoyed visiting with everyone, most importantly, her family. She loved spending time with them and going to all her grandchildrens' activities. Anna spent the last years of her life at St. Francis Nursing home where she made many friends and brought joy and comfort to many other residents. The staff at St. Francis enjoyed Anna's humor and infectious laughter.

Her Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Timothy Kummerer officiating.  A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to Mass.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. A luncheon will follow in the St. Joseph upper room.

Friends may visit with the family from 4-7:00 P.M. on Friday, March 3, 2023 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Senior Ministries, F.A.C.T., Masses at St. Joseph Catholic Church and All Saints Parish or to a charity of the donor's choice.
