Arlene D. Haines, 84, of Tiffin, died Friday morning, January 25, 2008, at Mercy Hospital, Tiffin. On May 30, 1923, she was born in Tiffin, to Ervin and Mayme (Schmidutz) Smith. On May 30, 1946, she married Merle W. Haines.
Survivors include two sons, Col. Lynn (Teresa) Haines of Scott AFB, IL, Ron (Laura) Haines of Tiffin, a sister, Phyllis Flechtner of Columbus, four grandchildren, Matthew and Michael Haines, Andrew and Sara Haines.
Preceding her in death along with her parents and husband, Merle, January 24, 1978, are two sisters, Helen Steyer and Ruth Kirian.
Arlene was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a cashier at Kroger for 28 years, retiring in 1985. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Charles Meadow Apartments and the gift shops at St. Francis Home and Mercy Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, January 29, 2008, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 15 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family 4-8 PM, Monday, January 28, 2008, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH, 44883, 419-447-2424. A Christian wake service will be 7:45 PM.
Memorial contributions can be made to Our Lady of Consolation Church, Carey, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
