Obituary

Arlie O. Ragle, 84, of Tiffin, died Wednesday morning, April 14, 2010, at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.

On January 6, 1926, he was born in Bloomington, Indiana, to Jack and Marie (Phillips) Ragle. He married Louise Harding in 1944 and she preceded him in death in 1975. June 11, 1976, he married Dolores (Brickner) Scherger.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Dolores; three sons, Chris (Barb) Ragle of Bloomville; Tim (Christine) Ragle of Tiffin; Brad Scherger of Upland, CA; three daughters, Brenda (Bud) Mowery of Tiffin; Barb (Scott) Roddy of Sidney; Diana Schroth of Tiffin; a brother, James Ragle of Bloomington, IN; a sister, Helen (Jay) Hesson of CA; 24 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death along with his parents and first wife, Louise, is a daughter, Lynn Perkins; four grandchildren, Jeff Ritter, Neil Ragle, Kevin Roddy, Dalanda Roddy and great-granddaughter, Louisa Ann Mowery-Fox.

Arlie graduated from Bloomington High School in Indiana where he holds a record in track and raced stock cars. He proudly served in the U.S. Marines from 1944-1946, during WWII. He moved to Tiffin in 1969, working as a maintenance foreman at Sterling Abrasive. He moved to Anaheim CA, in 1984 and worked for HITCO, retiring in 1987. He returned to Tiffin in 1989 and enjoyed spending winters in Florida, traveling the United States, fishing, reading, oil painting and rooting for Hoosier sports and The Ohio State University. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sporting events. He attended Redeemer Lutheran Church and was a member of Moose Lodge 846, AmVets Post 48, and American Legion Post 169.


His Funeral Service will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH, 44883, 419-447-2424, with Rev. Dr. Jan Kucera officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by the United Veteran's Council.

Friends may visit with the family 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Friday, April 16, 2010 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home.
