She worked part-time at her father's diner, Hamburg Inn, as a telephone operator at Ohio Bell, was a receptionist at Acme Electric Co., and as Mail Clerk at the Seneca County Court House. Barbara was a member of Family of Faith Lutheran Church, Order of Eastern Star, Y-Wives, Do Nothing Club and various Bridge clubs.  She loved OSU football.  At the OSU/Toledo game last fall, she witnessed her oldest great grandchild, Kamren Zirger, "Dot-the-I" in the OSU band.  She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilting, playing Bridge, gardening, traveling to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, British Isles, Panama, Mexico and throughout the United States; and spending time on their boat, the "Barbie K", at Lake Erie.

Above all else, Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and friends.
