Barbara C. Nordholt, 87, of Tiffin, died early Thursday morning, January 22, 2009, at her home.

She was born June 7, 1921 in Toledo, OH to Albert and Ruth (Connelly) Collen.

On March 28, 1942 she married James Shelby Nordholt who preceded her in death in 2005.

Barbara is survived by one daughter Catherine (Darrell) Jones of Lebanon, OH, and two sons James (Karen) Nordholt and William (Carol) Nordholt; 8 grandchildren; James III (Jay), Lisa, Darrell Jr. (DJ), Christopher, Daniel, Annemarie, Andrew, Thomas, and 8 great- grandchildren. She had two sisters, Harriet Pearson and Virginia Collen, both deceased.

Barbara is a graduate of DeVilbiss High School in Toledo, OH, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was the first woman accepted into the University of Toledo, College of Architecture. During WW II, Barbara worked as a draftswoman for the Civil Defense.

As a resident of Tiffin for over 50 years, she volunteered her time with the Betty Jane Thrift Shop, the Ritz Theater, and the Red Cross. She served as a member of the Board of Mercy Hospital.

Friends may visit with family Saturday, February 7, 2009, from 1:30 - 3:00 PM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home, 236 S. Washington Street, Tiffin, OH. A short memorial service will follow. Burial will be private.

Contributions may be made to the Ritz Theater, the Tiffin Charitable Foundation, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
