Barbara Ann Welty, 88, of Tiffin, passed away Wednesday morning, February 15, 2012, at St. Francis Home, Tiffin.
On June 13, 1923, in Cleveland, Ohio, she was born to Russell J. and Olive M. (Breitigam) Greer. She married Richard C. Welty in St. Joseph Catholic Church on December 29, 1945. He preceded her in death on October 13, 2006.
Survivors include two sons, Russ (Paula) Welty of Fremont, Ohio and Jim Welty of Tiffin, Ohio; two daughters, Diane (Bill) Hammer and Kathy (Brad) Willoughby, both of Tiffin, Ohio; two sisters, Elizabeth Barber of Sycamore, Ohio and Joanie Somers of Tiffin, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; Scott, Chris, Danielle, Amy, Andrea, Kristi, Lori, Dan, Jeff, Jaime and Eric; and 24 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Derrill Arnold; and two sisters, Geraldine Greer and Patricia Kummerer.
Barbara graduated in 1941 from Tiffin Columbian High School and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She worked as a parts manager at National Machinery retiring in 1986, after 29 years and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Barbara enjoyed ceramics, reading, bowling and attending the mother's study group at St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed raising her kids and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved attending their sporting events.
A double Mass of Christian Burial for Richard and Barbara Welty will be Monday, February 20, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, February 19, 2012, from 5-8:00 P.M. at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Christian Wake service will begin at 7:45 P.M. The National Machinery Quarter Century Club will meet in body at 7:00 PM.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Calvert Catholic Schools.
