Obituary

Bernard Charles Smith, 80, of Albion, Michigan, passed away January 17, 2010 at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall, Michigan.

He was born May 30, 1929 in Tiffin, to Louis and Frances (Arbogast) Smith. He served our Country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked at Hayes Albion for several years before transferring to Albion where he worked for Harvard Industries for 13 years as a Tool & Die maker. He was a former member of the Eagles Club in Albion and Moose Lodge in Tiffin, and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin.

Bernard enjoyed Nascar Racing, hunting and fishing. He transported cars for Frahm Chevrolet and Albion Ford. Bernard also enjoyed playing cards and games of chance.

His survivors include: 3 daughters, Lori (Chris) Earnhart of Fremont, Jill Hire of Sandusky, and Michelle (Rick) Bell of Tiffin, 4 sons, Michael Smith of Naples, FL, Steve (Linda) Smith of Sandusky, Joseph (Jean) Smith and John (Lauren) Smith, all of Tiffin, 2 sisters, Rosemary Widman and Catherine Tiell of Tiffin, 3 brothers, Clarence Smith, Robert (Clarice) Smith and Leo (Betty) Smith, all of Tiffin, 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and his companion Alta Riddle of Albion and her family which includes 4 daughters and 3 sons. He was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Dorothy Frankart, Helen Hammer, Marjorie Adams and Rita King and a brother, Richard Smith.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 20, 2010, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM, at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive in Albion.

Funeral Service for Bernard will be 2:00 PM, Friday, January 22, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH with visitation one hour prior to service.
