Betty L. Sendelbach, 88, of Tiffin, passed away on Wednesday, September 02, 2026 at the Elmwood at the Shawhan.
She was born on July 26, 1938, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Fred and Frieda (Fink) Scherer. On July 21, 1998, she married John E. Sendelbach and he preceded her in death on January 27, 2025.
Survivors include her brother, Herbert (Eileen) Scherer of Tiffin; niece, Linda (Scott) Wise of Clyde; stepchildren, Todd Sendelbach of Findlay, Tonya Whipple of Fort Wayne, IN and Tami Kellerbauer of Erie, MI; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Julia Ritzenthaler.
Betty graduated in 1956 from Columbian High School. She then attended Bowling Green State University. She worked in the medical records department at Tiffin Developmental Center for 39 ½ years, retiring in 1998. Betty had belonged to St. John’s UCC, Tiffin, the church choir, Ruth Circle, church council and the ladies sewing circle, which made and knitted quilts for Church World Services. Betty was a very good seamstress and made most her own clothes. She, along with her sister-in-law, Eileen would crochet prayer shawls for the church to be distributed where needed.
Her Funeral Service will be at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, September 08, 2026 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424 with Pastor Audra Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
