Beulah Jean Taylor, 93, of Tiffin, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday evening, March 15, 2016 at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.
She was born on October 6, 1922, in Green Springs, Ohio, to Lloyd and Dollie Mae (Pontius) Shellhammer. On November 25, 1942, in Aurora, CO, she married James Clayton "Rip" Taylor and he preceded her in death on January 11, 2011.
Survivors include three sons, Michael (Christine) Taylor of Charlotte, NC, William (Joan) Taylor of Columbus and Patrick (Pamela) Taylor of Sylvania; two daughters, Pamela Sue Barr, Jeanette (Richard) Widman of Tiffin and of Hilton Head, SC; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Suzanne Taylor; brothers Eldon "Skip" Shellhammer, Richard Shellhammer and Herman Reamer; and sister, Eulah "Mae" Bridinger.
Beulah graduated in 1940 from Tiffin Columbian High School, with a perfect attendance record for all 12 years. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and worked at General Electric. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #169 and the 8 & 40 Club, holding various offices in both. She was a member of the Allen Eiry Center and the Alter & Rosary Society of St. Mary's. She was a supporter of Cystic Fibrosis and headed up Bowl For Breath. She was a volunteer for Meals On Wheels for many years. She also enjoyed bowling and got great joy making her crafts. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time at Lake Erie fishing and boating.
Her family was very important to her and she enjoyed attending the many school functions and sporting events of her children and grandchildren.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 Noon on Friday, March 18, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass.
Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 10:00-11:45 A.M. on Friday, March 18, 2016 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, St. Mary Catholic Church or to the Humane Society of Seneca County.
