Carl Eugene "Gene" Hoover, 72, passed away, Tuesday evening, July 26, 2011 at his residence.

On June 3, 1939, in Bascom, Ohio, he was born to Carl Lewis & Helen (Feasel) Hoover. He married Carolyn Burns on March 29, 1959.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn of 54 years; sons, Joe (Karen) Hoover of Bascom, Ohio, Jeff (Sarah) Hoover of Tiffin; daughter, Peggy (Mike) Fox of Bloomville, Ohio; one brother, Terry (Pat) Hoover of Toledo, OH; two sisters, Karen (Ronnie) Mitchem of Fostoria, Ohio and Rosie Wosley of FL; seven grandchildren, Brandon Fox, Bill (Melissa) Fox, Paul (Kendy) Fortney, Alisha Hoover, Brent Fox, Aric Hoover and Justin Hoover; seven great-grandchildren, Brennan, Brianna, Brayden, Brodie, Sydney, Max, and Addison.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Genie Hoover in 1981; and one great-granddaughter, Louisa.

Gene was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He worked at Jeffrey Jewelry, as a jeweler and repairing watches for over thirty years. He also worked on watches out of his home for area jewelry stores. He started working on watches at the age of ten. He was a member of the VFW and the Tiffin Eagles Club and volunteered at the St. Mary's festival. Gene enjoyed going to casinos and also enjoyed animals, fishing and traveling.

His mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 10:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Roemmele officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to mass. Burial will follow at Seneca Memory Garden.
