Carl W. Heck, 92, of Tiffin, passed away on Monday evening, November 17, 2014 at Bridge Hospice, Findlay.
He was born on December 24, 1921, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Carl F. and Charlotte F. "Lottie" Osterwalder. On June 12, 1948, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, he married Dorothy D. Weaver.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; children, Bill (Mary) Heck of Westerville, Donna (Donald) Fischer of Greensburg, PA, Tom (Vickie) Heck of Tiffin, Barb Heck of Columbus and Jane (Jim) Broadbent of Cortland; 8 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and sister, Evelyn Myers.
Carl graduated in 1939 from Tiffin Calvert High School, later from Tiffin University and was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a veteran of WWII Pacific Theatre and the Battle of Okinawa where he attained the rank of Master Sgt. After the military, he met his wife, Dorothy while working at Heidelberg College and retired as a manager of the machine repair department at National Machinery, after 33 years. Carl was also a member of the Knights of Columbus #608 and was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers, the Detroit Lions and especially of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
His Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, November 21, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until the time of Mass on Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Calvert Catholic Schools or St. Francis Home.
