Carl was born on October 23, 1952, in Astoria, Oregon to Clarence and Marilyn (Gibson) Hodge. On June 20, 1981, he married the love of his life, Linda Firestone. She died on November 13, 2021, and Carl was never the same.
Survivors include his children, Erika (Jason) Hill, Logan (Jody) Hodge and Tyler (Jessica) Hodge; grandsons, Liam and Lyncoln; bonus granddaughters, Melanie and Ezme; and many brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Hodge; mother, Marilyn Rettig; sister, Gail Craig; and brother, Thomas Rettig.
Carl was a 1972 Graduate of Mohawk High School. After graduation, he began working on the pipeline as a laborer before becoming an operator. He was a 40+ year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 18. Late in his career, he was called to share his expertise and teach Engineering and Bending classes for the National Pipeline Training Program. Carl traveled all over the country working on the pipeline, taking his family with him on many memorable adventures over the years. He loved sharing stories and pictures of his work.
Carl was an avid outdoorsman and was a member of the Izaak Walton Legue, Seneca Muzzleloaders, and Carey Masonic Lodge No. 420. He enjoyed going to gun shows, flea markets and riding his Harley. He shared his love of hunting, fishing and everything outdoors with his children and grandchildren. It wasn't unusual to hear him bragging about Logan's latest buck and he was happy to learn his grandson had joined his school's fishing team.
